Non-Certified Assistant Teacher

The Non-Certified Assistant Teacher is responsible for providing a safe, nurturing, and Christ-centered environment for children in their care. This role focuses on helping to foster each child’s spiritual, physical, emotional, social, and cognitive development through developmentally appropriate, Biblically based care and education.

The Non-Certified Assistant Substitute will model Christ-like character, professionalism, reliability and teamwork. They will work with the team to support each child’s individual growth, and partner with families and colleagues to ensure excellence in early childhood education consistent with the purpose, values and strategy of Abundant Life Christian Childcare.

Responsibilities

The Non-Certified Assistant Teacher shall include, but not be limited to, the following responsibilities:

  • Assist in providing appropriate daily structure, guidance and care that meets the growing needs of children.

  • Assist as needed in the creation and implementation of learning rich activities, interactive play that encourages developmental growth in all areas.

  • Assist in the observation and documentation for children’s evaluations as requested by Lead Teacher for the evaluation of each child’s progress at least twice a year (October and April).

  • Utilize teaching methods that accommodate diverse needs, abilities, and interests.

  • Integrate Biblical worldview and Christ-like values into all interactions and learning opportunities.

  • Provide attentive, loving care and support for children, in all areas including bottling, feeding, diapering, toilet training, and self-help skills.

  • Ensure the classroom environment is safe, clean, and organized at all times.

  • Provide appropriate child supervision at all times.

  • Assist in maintaining accurate daily attendance and update required logs and records weekly.

  • Follow all health, safety, and universal precaution policies and procedures.

  • Build and maintain positive relationships with families, co-workers and administration.

  • Communicate effectively with families, co-workers and administration.

  • Follow instructions for assisting the group in directed activities, following daily schedules and routines, and classroom rules.

  • Participate in required meetings, trainings or events.

  • Help monitor children’s health and well-being.

  • Participate in and receive required yearly EEC professional development training (minimum 20 hours annually).

  • Maintain confidentiality regarding students, families, and staff.

  • Uphold EEC licensing regulations.

  • Complete tasks assigned by directors per needs of the center with flexibility.

Experience

  • Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

Requirements

  • Acquire within 6 months and maintain CPR and 1st Aid. Perform duties involving walking, running, bending, lifting and moving equipment or children (up to approximately 35 lbs.) as needed.

Compensation

  • Hourly Pay Range: $15.00-$19.00
