Special Education Teacher
As a Special Education Teacher, you play a vital role in helping students discover their God-given potential and experience success both academically and spiritually. Through Christ-centered instruction, individualized support, and meaningful relationships, you help students overcome learning challenges, build confidence, and develop a lifelong love of learning.
In partnership with families, teachers, and support staff, you create an inclusive learning environment where students are encouraged to grow academically, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. By integrating biblical truth into instruction and supporting students with diverse learning needs, you help fulfill the school's mission of preparing students to follow Christ and achieve their personal and academic potential.
While implementing the school's curriculum and utilizing Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks as a guide, you employ evidence-based instructional practices and individualized strategies that enable students to thrive and reach their educational goals.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide individualized and small-group instruction to students with identified learning differences using evidence-based practices, including multisensory instruction, structured literacy, repetition, phonics-based approaches, and other appropriate interventions.
- Develop and implement instructional strategies that address each student's academic, social, emotional, and spiritual needs.
- Differentiate instruction and provide accommodations and modifications to help students access the curriculum and demonstrate learning.
- Monitor student progress regularly and adjust instructional plans based on assessment data and student needs.
- Foster student independence, self-advocacy, resilience, and a growth mindset.
Collaboration & Communication
Collaborate with public school districts and related service providers in the development, implementation, and review of individualized education plans and support services.
Partner with classroom teachers to adapt curriculum, assessments, and instructional methods to maximize student success.
Maintain open, professional, and timely communication with parents regarding student progress, goals, challenges, and achievements.
Work closely with administrators, counselors, specialists, and support staff to ensure coordinated services for students.
Assessment & Compliance
Conduct and interpret educational assessments to identify learning needs, guide instruction, and monitor student growth.
Maintain accurate and confidential records in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations.
Prepare documentation, progress reports, accommodation plans, and other required records in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with school procedures and requirements related to special education services and student support plans.
Classroom Culture & Student Development
Create a safe, organized, and engaging classroom environment that supports learning and reflects Christian values.
Utilize positive behavior supports and restorative practices to encourage socially appropriate behavior and promote student success.
Teach and model Christ-like character, integrity, respect, responsibility, and compassion.
Integrate a biblical worldview into instruction and daily interactions with students.
School Community Engagement
Attend and actively participate in staff meetings, professional development opportunities, and faculty training sessions.
Support and participate in school events, programs, and activities as requested.
Contribute to the planning and supervision of chapel services, discipleship groups, and other spiritual formation activities.
Attend and participate in designated student experiences.
Build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues that strengthen the school community.
Perform other duties as assigned by the administration.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
Appropriate teaching licensure or eligibility for licensure.
Knowledge of evidence-based interventions and instructional strategies for students with diverse learning needs.
Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
Demonstrated commitment to Christian education and the ability to integrate faith into all aspects of teaching and student support.
Agreement with and commitment to the school's mission, vision, and statement of faith.

Operating Model
Reporting Lines: Reports to the school Vice Principal
Co-operative Relationships: Vice Principal, School Counselor, classroom teachers
Participate in regular Meetings with Teaching Staff to review priorities, opportunities and issues;
Position Requirements & Limitations
- The position works on-site for the weekly hour requirement of approximately 40 hours
- The position is focused on helping the education department deliver a high-quality, faith-based education.
- Occasional evening or weekend hours required to support school events.
Compensation
Salary: $45,000-$55,000
